31-year-old Swedish goalkeeper arrives to take over the red goal. He is European champion with Sweden and won the European League with Magdeburg.

This Wednesday, Benfica announced the signing of Tobias Thulin. The 31-year-old Swedish goalkeeper signed until 2027 with the Reds and arrives to take over in goal after the departures of Gustavo Capdeville and Rangel da Rosa.

He is the Reds' fifth reinforcement after Bogojevic, Sindre Heldal, Aurélien Padolus and Breki Árnason.

Each club, in its own way, made me a better handball player, but for me the most important thing was when I played in Denmark. I played a fundamental role, played a lot and evolved as a goalkeeper. It was a very important and rewarding step for me to play regularly in the Champions League as a starting goalkeeper. In Hungary, last season, I also played in a very good team and I really enjoyed it, but then it was a little more difficult to get playing time. For me, coming to Benfica and having, hopefully, an important role was really inspiring. Playing for such a great team and having such an important role, hopefully, is something I will enjoy and is truly inspiring", he said.

European champion with Sweden, Thulin arrives at Benfica after spells at Redbergslids, Magdeburg, Stuttgart, GOG and Pick Szeged. His CV includes titles in Denmark and Hungary, as well as winning the 2022 European Championship with the Swedes and the European League with Magdeburg.
