Alexis Guérin is expected to be the winner of the Tour of Portugal in Porto

This Sunday, the cobbled streets of Porto are the stage for the 10th and final stage of the 87th Tour of Portugal by bike, which should see Frenchman Alexis Guérin (Anicolor-Campicarn) as the winner, on a day that can be unpredictable in terms of discussion of the race.

The 34-year-old Frenchman heads into the final day of the competition with a lead of 01.02 minutes over his teammate Artem Nych, winner of the 2024 and 2025 editions, and is expected to take the podium at Avenida dos Aliados with the yellow jersey of a race marked by the tragic death of Finlay Tarling, a British runner who died on Friday, aged 19.

After the symbolic start, scheduled for 1:10 pm, next to Maia City Hall, the squad of 89 runners must cross the municipalities of Maia, Valongo, Santo Tirso, Paredes and Gondomar at a slow pace until the beginning of the cobbled road, as soon as they enter the historic center of Porto for the first time, at kilometer 95.

From there, the race should accelerate and eventually "break" with the attacks of the more explosive and faster runners, given the short climbs that fill the circuit between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, with crossings on the D. Luís I bridge and the Infante bridge.

The cyclists will cross Avenida dos Aliados twice, before discussing victory on the third pass through the emblematic artery of the undefeated city, where the finish line will be located, after 136.9 kilometers.
