Carlos Carvalhal is the new manager of Famalicão. The Minho-based club confirmed his appointment moments after announcing that Hugo Oliveira was leaving for Strasbourg.
A free agent, the 60-year-old coach showed early interest in taking on the Famalicão project, drawn by the club's sustained growth in recent seasons, its track record of developing young players, and its ambition to contend for European qualification following a fifth-place finish in the last Primeira Liga campaign.
Hugo Oliveira was officially unveiled by Racing Strasbourg, which described the Portuguese coach as "one of the most promising up-and-coming managers in European football," highlighting the attacking style of his teams and his ability to develop players.
In its farewell statement, Famalicão confirmed that the release clause in the coach's contract had been triggered. The club thanked Hugo Oliveira and the rest of the coaching staff for their "dedication and professionalism" during their time at the club, wishing them "great personal and professional success."
