Chelsea has officially signed Aston Villa and England star Morgan Rogers for a record transfer fee for a British player of around 138 million euros, signing a contract valid for six seasons.
Rogers arrives at Chelsea after having played six times for England in the 2026 World Cup, with his standout performance at Aston Villa earning him a call-up to Thomas Tuchel's team.
The midfielder played 125 games for Villa, adding 31 goals and 29 assists, a clear improvement compared to his previous spells at Middlesbrough, Lincoln, Bournemouth and Blackpool.
"I'm very excited. For me, Chelsea is the biggest club in London and a club I've admired since I was a child", he said, speaking to the club's website. "I'm very excited about the project with the new coach, the players we have and the direction the club is taking. That's why I'm here and I can't wait to get started", added the Englishman.
Rogers initially stood out as part of a highly successful generation at the Manchester City academy and is now reunited with former team-mates, Cole Palmer and Liam Delap, at Stamford Bridge.
The England international becomes Chelsea's most high-profile signing under new manager Xabi Alonso, surpassing the British transfer record previously set this window with the move of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City (around €136.5 million).
