Ferrari prepares tribute to Schumacher in Monza

With a special livery, the historic Italian team Ferrari intends to pay homage to world record holder Michael Schumacher. 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Schumacher's first season at Ferrari and, in an allusion to one of "the most memorable chapters in its history", the current Scuderia drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, will compete in the Formula 1 weekend in Monza with a livery inspired by the 1996 Ferrari F310.

In addition to the classic red, Schumacher's personal logo decorates the car. The single-seater's nose, with seven stars, is also a tribute to Schumacher's later helmet design – one star for each world title. Also the mechanics and both drivers will wear special suits, Hamilton and Leclerc will also wear special helmets.

“Michael's time at Ferrari was much more than a succession of victories and titles", wrote Ferrari: "His tireless pursuit of perfection, his attention to detail, his discipline and his ability to be a true team player created a culture that has become one of the hallmarks of Scuderia“. Even after 30 years, this continues to be an integral part of the way Ferrari views competition today.

Barrichello and Vettel revive the legendary F2002

It is not the only tribute. On Saturday, Schumacher's former teammate, Rubens Barrichello, will drive the legendary F2002, and on Sunday, before the race, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will also drive it.

Schumacher led Ferrari back to the top of Formula 1 after difficult years, with six consecutive constructors' titles (1999 to 2004) and five consecutive drivers' titles (2000 to 2004). After eleven seasons, he left the Scuderia in 2006 and retired. Between 2010 and 2012, Schumacher returned to compete in Formula 1 for Mercedes, before definitively ending his career.
