Atlanta Braves right-handed pitcher Reynaldo Lopez was placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday due to right shoulder inflammation. The 35-year-old has a record of 4 wins and 5 losses, with an ERA of 4.54 and a WHIP of 1.44 in 79⅓ innings, spread over 13 starts and 13 as a reliever. He allowed five runs, six hits and two strikeouts in three innings in a 7-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Monday night . Lopez did not play between July 26 and September 9 due to left knee inflammation and has a 12.91 ERA since his return, having given up 11 runs, 13 hits and five walks in 7 and two-thirds innings. "I'm not sure what the next step will be," Braves manager Walt Weiss said. "Obviously, he's going to need a little rest. The hope is that he recovers from his shoulder injury with a few weeks of rest and that we can get the real Reynaldo Lopez back. And if that happens, he can help us." He became the seventh Braves pitcher on the injured list, joining right-handers Bryce Elder (right knee injury), Joe Jiménez (recovering from left knee surgery), Spencer Schwellenbach (right elbow surgery), Spencer Strider (right elbow inflammation), Robert Suarez (right elbow inflammation), and left-hander Joey Wentz (torn ACL). Right-hander JR Ritchie has been recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett. Selected 35th overall in the 2022 amateur draft, the 23-year-old made his major league debut on April 23 and has a 4.50 ERA in eight starts and six relief appearances with the Braves this season. “He had been pitching really well,” Weiss said. "I'm looking forward to seeing him in action. JR is very talented. His pitching needed some development — accurate throwing. He's made some changes in that aspect and it's been a lot better." Jiménez is beginning a stint in the minor leagues to recover from an injury with Gwinnett. He hasn't played a professional game since 2024. Suarez is expected to throw pitching practice in the bullpen on Thursday. Post navigation Brayan Rocchio decisive in the victory once again. What the New York Mets learned in 2026
