Current F1 world champion Lando Norris has committed his long-term future to McLaren by signing a contract extension that will keep him at the team until 2030. The new deal comes less than a week after Norris secured two consecutive victories by triumphing at the Dutch Grand Prix, reigniting hopes of a successful defense of his world title. It also includes an option to extend the contract for several years beyond 2030, McLaren announced this Saturday. Last season, 26-year-old Norris won McLaren's first drivers' title since Lewis Hamilton won it in 2008. The Briton joined McLaren's junior program when he was just 17 years old and made his F1 debut two years later, in 2019. "McLaren is my home and I am delighted to sign a new contract that keeps me with the team until at least 2030," Norris said in a team statement: "When I started this journey nine years ago, I had well-defined the goals I wanted to achieve: bringing McLaren back to the forefront and winning championships. We have already achieved this goal, but we want more; We want to keep winning and we know, as a team, that we are capable of doing so." Norris sits fourth in this year's championship, 83 points behind Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, with 11 races remaining this season.
