São Paulo, from the Brazilian Series A, announced, last Monday, the signing of Portuguese defender Aurélio Buta, 29 years old.

Buta is the most recent reinforcement of the historic São Paulo. The defender, born in Angola, but with Portuguese nationality, signed a contract valid until June 30, 2027 with the Brazilian team, plus a year of automatic renewal, subject to the achievement of objectives.

Buta was free on the market after the contract that tied him to Copenhagen, Denmark, ended.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to be here. It's a very good opportunity for my career, because São Paulo is a great club. I'm happy and I hope to see our fans at the stadium soon", said, in statements reproduced by the club's official website.

A youth international for Portugal, Buta was part of Benfica's formation before leaving for Antwerp, in Belgium. He also played for Reims and Eintracht Frankfurt, before heading to Denmark, on loan from the German team.
