Portuguese tennis players Francisco Cabral and Nuno Borges qualified today for the Estoril Open doubles quarter-finals, after beating Frenchmen Arthur Reymond and Luca Sanchez.
A few hours after being eliminated in the round of 16 in singles, Nuno Borges (387th in the doubles ranking) joined his friend Francisco Cabral (27th) for his debut in doubles, achieving a triumph over Arthur Reymond (79th) and Luca Sanchez (78th), by 7-6 (7-4) and 7-6 (7-0), in one hour and 42 minutes.
In the quarter-finals, Cabral and Borges will play with the North American Vasil Kirkov (52nd) and the Dutch Bart Stevens (51st), fourth seeds and who today beat the Brazilian Marcelo Demoliner (66th) and the North American Robert Galloway (43rd).
Francisco Cabral arrives at Clube de Ténis do Estoril after losing the final of the tournament in Bastad, Sweden, alongside Frenchman Theo Arribage, in what could have been his seventh ATP title.
Cabral and Borges will be joined by another Portuguese pair in the quarter-finals, as Tiago Torres and João Domingues have been relegated to face compatriots Jaime Faria and Henrique Rocha.
