SC Braga informed that the game of the 2nd round of the Liga Portugal, against Gil Vicente FC, initially scheduled for this Sunday, has been postponed to a date to be defined.

This change is due to a situation of gastrointestinal infections that affect the SC Braga squad and that began to develop in Bulgaria, having evolved very unfavorably in the last 48 hours. This was confirmed after a face-to-face assessment, this Saturday, by a medical delegate specializing in Public Health and Occupational Medicine, who declared that the symptoms impact the availability of the affected players for the competition in the next 48-72 hours, adding that in the coming days more cases could appear in other players on the squad, due to contact with those with symptoms.

Currently having only 3 goalkeepers and 7 field players available, SC Braga entered into contacts with Liga Portugal and Gil Vicente FC, highlighting the way in which both entities positioned themselves and the commitment they revealed towards sporting truth and the integrity of the competition. The decision taken is the one that best serves the championship, and it is highly appreciated that Liga Portugal and Gil Vicente FC were able to take steps in this direction, an example that should prevail for the future.

Furthermore, this resolution is also the one that best serves the interests of Portuguese football, as it avoids, in the run-up to a European play-off, a competitive overload in a context of enormous opposition, but also an increased injury risk for athletes who would have to perform within a framework of limitations.
