Footballer Marquinhos, previously working for Brazilians Santa Cruz, is Desportivo de Chaves' latest addition for the 2026/27 season, the Liga 2 team announced.
“Desportivo de Chaves has reached an agreement with Santa Cruz for the transfer of the striker, who will join the main squad for the 2026/27 season”, informed SAD Trás-os-Montes on social media.
The 23-year-old striker makes his debut in Portuguese football after a brief spell at Santa Cruz, in the Brazilian third division, having played eight games and scored two goals for the Pernambuco team, after representing Associação Atlética Maguary, Esporte Clube Água Santa and Retrô FC.
On European soil, Marquinhos has spells with the Finns at AC Oulu and the Ukrainians at the now-defunct Dnipro.
For the new season, Desportivo de Chaves had also secured forwards André Rodrigues (ex-Marítimo), Wilson Tavares (ex-Atlético da Malveira) and Costinha (ex-Petro de Luanda), midfielder Dru Yearwood (ex-Rotherham), defender Léo Alaba (ex-AFS) and goalkeeper João Valido (ex-Arouca).
