Jhonatan Luiz, a 35-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper, is Alverca's reinforcement.
Jhonatan Luiz is returning to Portuguese football, after spells at Athletic-MG, in Brazil, and Pakhtakor, in Uzbekistan.
After several years of training and senior level with Joinville – winning the Brasileirão Série B, the Campeonato Paranaense and the Copa Santa Catarina – Jhonatan Luiz arrived in Portugal in the 2017/2018 season, to represent Moreirense. Over the course of two seasons, he shone in the top tier of national football, then moving to Vitória SC.
In 2021, he continued on loan to Rio Ave, winning the League 2 title that season. The goalkeeper remained at Vilacondenses for another two and a half seasons, before moving to Uzbekistan.
In the Asian country, Jhonatan Luiz won an Uzbekistan Cup before returning to Brazilian competitions, through Athletic-MG.
