Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira renewed his contract with BMW and will continue to compete in the Superbike World Championship in 2027 and the following seasons, the German manufacturer announced. Miguel Oliveira, 31 years old, will complete his second season driving the BMW M 1000 RR, working for the official ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team, after having debuted in the championship in 2026, after seven seasons in MotoGP. “Extending my journey with BMW is a reflection of the trust we have built together and our shared ambition for the future”, said the Portuguese driver, quoted in the Bavarian team’s statement. In his debut season in the Superbike World Championship, Miguel Oliveira has achieved four podiums so far. Three were achieved in the second round of the championship, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão, where he finished in the first three places in all the weekend's races. The Portuguese rider subsequently missed two rounds, in May and June, due to a serious shoulder injury, suffered in a fall at the Balaton Park circuit, in Hungary. Since then, Oliveira has worked with the team on their physical recovery and return to the podium, a collaboration that BMW has now decided to extend for several seasons, without disclosing the exact duration of the new contract. “We laid the foundations this season, but I believe the best is yet to come. I'm excited to continue this journey together and to continue building something we can all be proud of”, added Miguel Oliveira. The head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, Sven Blusch, highlighted the Portuguese driver's quick adaptation to the new championship, after his time in MotoGP. “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Miguel in the coming years. He adapted very quickly to our Superbike project and became an important part of the team, both on and off the track.”, he stated. Sven Blusch acknowledged that the injury suffered in Hungary represented “a setback”, but was convinced that the team and the driver can “achieve great things together this season and in the coming years”. Miguel Oliveira started his career in the World Speedway in 2011 and reached MotoGP in 2019, a category in which he won five victories before moving to the World Superbikes in 2026.
